Retro Toys and Treasures Bring Back the Pleasures of the Past

Whether you are nostalgic for simpler times or you simply want your kids to experience active play that does not involve a remote control or video screen, retro toys are the perfect way to bring back the pleasures of the past. Below are just a few of the beautifully-crafted, sturdy vintage-style toys and other treasures that can provide hour after hour of safe and wholesome fun.

Radio Flyer Inchworm

A few decades ago, nearly every American child had their own Radio Flyer inchworm; all it takes to make this adorable ride-on “go” is bouncing up and down. Safe for kids aged 2 to 5, this friendly toy helps children develop balance and large motor skills.

American Retro and Airflow Collectibles Pedal Cars and Planes

Let your child’s imagination soar with American Retro and Airflow Collectibles retro ride-on toys, including pedal cars, planes, and trains. These stainless-steel ride-ons meet or exceed all current safety standards; the durable construction ensures that your child, and even your grandchildren, will enjoy these fanciful toys for years to come.

Radio Flyer Retro Rocket

The Radio Flyer Retro Rocket pedal toy sports vintage styling, along with realistic “outer space” sounds (activated by rolling the wheels) and under-the-seat storage to take along everything your child needs for the next important “mission.”

Airflow Collectibles Tricycles

Airflow retro tricycles are stunning reproductions of the original Sky King Trikes of 1936. These steel trikes boast fabulous powder coats, chrome insignias, solid rubber tires, sealed ball bearing, rubber handles, and light that really does work. Why spend over $3,000 for an original trike that is in bad, as well as, unsafe condition, when you can buy a perfect replica in pristine condition? For even younger children, Airflow makes junior-sized tricycles that are exactly the same in every way, just scaled-down.

American Retro Coke Machine

While you may not be old enough to remember the first Coca Cola machines, back when a cold one cost only a few cents, you are sure to appreciate the retro feel of this authentic reproduction of the Westinghouse original from the 30’s and 40’s. This vintage-style treasure really works and is perfect for the family room or patio.

Coca Cola Bubble Clock

The classic “double bubble” Coca Cola advertising clocks, made from the 1940s to the 1960s, are among the most attractive vintage clocks available. Add one of these fully-functional electric clocks (no batteries required) to your den or family room to give your décor a genuine retro look and feel.

Airflow Pedal Planes and The Inspiration Behind Them

Pedal Planes by Airflow Collectibles are relished by both the young and the old. Kids will take off in great style when they are in one of these show-stopping airplanes. Imaginations will soar to new heights while motor skills are further developed. When they are seated in the cockpit of these spectacular planes, children can be Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earheart, anyone they want to be.

Parents love pedal planes as they are reminiscent of the good old days when times were much simpler, back when kids actually spent their days outside playing. Many grandparents can remember the actual, real planes that some of Airflow's planes are modeled after and have some amazing memories and stories to share.

Silver Pursuit Pedal Plane

Pursuit Planes were high-speed fighter planes created before World War II to pursue and attack enemy aircraft. And it is the U.S. Pursuit Plane that inspired Airflow when designing the Silver Pursuit pedal plane.

The Airflow Silver Pursuit Pedal Plane is completely crafted of steel and features:

"Sky King" was an American radio and television adventure series in the 1940's and 1950's. The main character of the show was named "Sky" King. It is believed that the show was based on a real-life person, Jack Cones, the Flying Constable of Twentynine Palms during the 1930s. Using his plane, "Sky King" would catch criminals and rescue lost hikers.

The Airflow Sky King Pedal Plane is red, with a white seat and it's features include:

  • High Traction Rubber Tires
  • Non Slip Pedals
  • Padded and Snapped Seat

Airflow fashioned their Shark Attack Pedal Plane with wild looking shark-teeth decals, resembling the P-40. Little ones will scare any adversary away in this BAD looking plane! Completely made of steel, the Shark Attack Plane also features:

  • High Traction Rubber Tires
  • Non Slip Pedals

Corsairs were flown in combat by the U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy, Royal Navy and New Zealand Air Force. The first American fighter planes to harbor a 2,000 horsepower engine, Corsair planes were the first to exceed 400 miles per hour.

The Corsair Pedal Plane offers:

  • High Traction Rubber Tires
  • Non Slip Pedals
  • Padded and Snapped Seat
  • Propeller moves when you pedal
  • All metal construction
  • Custom Graphics

Red Baron Pedal Plane

Airflow specially designed their Red Baron Airplane after the legendary German fighter pilot Manfred von Richthofen. He is known to this day as the "Ace of Aces" of the First World War. In 1917, Richthofen painted parts of his airplane red, in order for his allies on the ground to recognize and not shoot at him. This earned him the nickname of the "Red Baron." Richthofen flew biplanes for most of his career, which were only painted partially red. However, it is the Dr.1 triplane, that was painted red from cowl to tail, that most think of when referring to the Red Baron.

The Red Baron made history from all his victories during World War I. And now, your children too, can make history in the two-winged Red Baron pedal plane by Airflow.

The Red Baron plane features:

  • High Traction Rubber Tires
  • Non Slip Pedals
  • Padded and Snapped Seat
  • Propeller moves when you pedal
  • Custom wheel pants
  • All metal construction
  • Two wings
  • Exhaust Ports
  • Custom Graphics
  • Automotive Powder Coat lead-free paint in Red

All Airflow Pedal Planes are recommended for boys and girls age 3-6 and are Toy Safety Tested and Approved for the USA.

Airflow Pedal Planes: Flying In Style Is Not Just A Thing Of The Past

Flying In Style Is Not Just A Thing Of The Past

Well, ok, maybe flying in style on an actual airplane is a thing of the past. However, kids can still take off in style, comfort and fun in Airflow’s unique line of pedal planes designed to spark the imagination of even the most sophisticated flier. Airflow pedal planes are perfect for preschoolers who like to pretend they are taking flight, and they are great for parents who want to encourage their children to get outdoors and use their imagination.

A Piece of Americana

Pedal planes have been a part of children’s toys almost since the moment the Wright brothers first took off from Kitty Hawk, NC. Patterned after traditional metal pedal cars, pedal planes are powered by a child’s energy and imagination. Pedal cars were one of the very first ‘must have’ toys for children; these great cars and planes have long been loved by American children. Most parents and grandparents can remember the hours of fun they had playing with friends in the neighborhood in their pedal cars. Now, with the advent of longer lasting paints, non-toxic materials and more comfortable features, a new generation of kids can enjoy years of fun pretending to be flying Aces.

On the Move

Exercise should be a part of every child’s normal day. Studies show that toddlers and preschoolers spend a great majority of their day watching television. They spend only a small part of their active day engaged in play outdoors where they can burn off energy and use their imaginations. Airflow’s great pedal plane designs are an ideal way to incorporate exercise into a child’s day. What small child would pass up the opportunity to go outside and engage in pretend play when they have something as fantastic as a pedal plane to play with?

Family Fun

Family time is always more enjoyable when parents aren’t the only ones doing the heavy lifting or pulling. Why take your young children out in a wagon in the evening to walk around the block when they can fly down the sidewalk, under their own power, in a pedal plane. Kids who are still too young to ride a bike during the family walk will be able to enjoy an evening stroll and get exercise at the same time. Airflow pedal planes are easy to power, easy to steer and comfortable to ride.

Airflow’s retro pedal planes are made for kids age three to six years old. However, entire families will enjoy the fun and play that these ride-on toys bring to the outdoors.
